Week One: Summaries

I’ve decided that I will include summaries of the book (from the back of the books, since when you’re looking in a bookshop that’s where you look, am I right?) in the “goals” posts every week. That way you guys can get an idea of the type of book I’m reading–and maybe it’ll interest you too! Just a thought I had…see what I mean about randomly posting?

In The Woods–“In Tana French’s powerful debut thriller, three children leave their small Dublin neighborhood to play in the surrounding woods. Hours later, their mothers’ calls go unanswered. When the police arrive, they find only one of the children, gripping a tree trunk in terror, wearing blood-filled sneakers, and unable to recall a single detail of the previous hours.

Twenty years later, Detective Rob Ryan–the found boy, who has kept his past a secret–and his partner Cassie Maddox investigate the murder of a twelve-year-old girl in the same woods. Now, with only snippets of long-buried memories to guide him, Ryan has the chance to uncover both the mystery of the case before him, and that of his own shadowy past.”

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo–“Stieg Larsson’s The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo combines murder mystery, family saga, love story, and financial intrigue into a complex and atmospheric novel.

Harriet Vanger, a scion of one of Sweden’s wealthiest families disappeared over forty years ago. All these years later, her aged uncle continues to seek the truth. He hires Mikael Blomkvist, a crusading journalist recently trapped by a libel conviction, to investigate. He is aided by the pierced and tattooed punk prodigy Lisbeth Salander. Together they tap into a vein of iniquity and corruption.”

Meep! I’m so excited to finish both of these! I’ll let you know on Saturday if I did or not!

Well, that’s all for now. Ta-ta!
